Four Days in New York

New York, New York…

New York…its just one of those places you have to experience to understand why so many people consider it to be the greatest city in the world! The architecture, the people, the food and drink, the atmosphere, the culture…I could go on. Having spent four days in the city at the beginning of Springtime I have produced a book titled ‘Four Days in New York’ which is a photographic cameo and the title speaks for itself.

The photographs were taken in New York City towards the end of April…the weather was idyllic and presents the city at its best. The book comprises a series of images which seek to capture the key elements of the city as seen in one very compressed moment of time.

Foodbank Christmas Campaign

Christmas for many is a time of celebration and excess. But there are those for whom this is anything but the truth. For these individuals this season of  goodwill to all mankind brings with it an inability to fulfil the most basic human need…to be able to feed themselves and their families…something which for a variety of reasons is beyond their means.

For Foodbank (Worcester) Christmas 2016 sees the launch of the ‘Reverse Advent Calendar’ and it has been our privilege to produce the advertising materials for this marketing campaign. Click on any of the images below to enlarge and view each design.

Wedding at the Curradine Barns

Screen Shot 2016-05-26 at 23.22.44bOver the last eight years, ‘Longdesigns’ have become established as wedding photographers of considerable repute. As a business we are known for our ability to tell a story which captures the big picture as well as the details of a day both bride and groom will remember forever. We believe that the best form of advertising is by word of mouth – from clients who have experienced the very individual treatment offered by the business. We place considerable importance on developing a personal relationship with all of our clients so that we cover all the things which are important to you…because on the day, it is all about you…and not about us.

Screen Shot 2016-05-26 at 23.23.56The Curradine Barns in Worcestershire is a favourite location of ours and we were there again recently covering the wedding of Kate and Olly…what a wonderful day it was for all concerned.

Four Days in Seville

From painters to architects, sculptors to playwrights, Spain has been home to many famous artists through the ages. I have produced a book titled ‘Four Days in Seville’ which is a photographic cameo and the title speaks for itself.

The photographs were taken in Seville during the Feria de Abril…a fortnight after Santa Semana (otherwise known as Holy Week). The Feria de Abril is a wonderful time to see what many consider to be typical of …Sevillanas, flamenco dresses, bullfighting, sherry, and horse drawn carriages.

Fiat and Ferrari

In September, one of our commercial photoshoots involved photographing two stunning Ferraris and a New Holland tractor sold by Murleys. The location provided a great backdrop and the weather made lighting the shots a  much easier task. Moving the vehicles around the yard was I’m pleased to say, left to someone other than the photographer.

‘Art and Soul’

17 – 19 July, 2015

Tissue Collage 1 960pxLast weekend, I was involved in co leading a retreat which looked at ways in which (from a Christian perspective) we can explore faith and creativity. The weekend encompassed three main areas in terms of creative activity : Creative Writing, Image Making and Photography. There were five practical sessions over two days. All of those involved found the opportunity to have time to reflect as well as create an exhilarating experience. If you would like to know more about the weekend itself and to see some of the work which was produced, please click on the following link :

RPS DVJ ‘Secret Gloucestershire’

rps 72dpiDuring the month of August, the Gloucester Documentary and Visual Journalism SIG (Special Interest Group) of the Royal Photographic Society organised an exhibition held in Gloucester Guildhall called ‘Secret Gloucestershire’.

The aim of the exhibition is to show images of Gloucestershire with a difference, either familiar scenes from an unusual point of view or scenes that would go unnoticed but all taken within the county and reflecting aspects of its personality. Entries are from photographers of all abilities and demonstrate their interpretation of the theme of Secret Gloucestershire…with some forty photographs on show.

Paul was invited to submit three pieces of work for the exhibition which were based on Purton, Painswick and Puzzlewood.
