Landscape Photography does not as you might think simply address all that is natural…what of the urban landscape, the industrial landscape…as well as the natural landscape. But from the very beginnings of photography, it is to the natural landscape that photographers have turned time and time again as they have been motivated by its absolute beauty. Photographers such as Ansell Adams, Edward Weston and so many others have sought to capture strongly defined landforms…often including the ambient qualities of the weather and the variable quality of the light. In their pursuit of purity, landscape photographers will often go to considerable lengths to capture a landscape which is devoid of all human form. Landscape photographs can sometimes capture a spiritual serenity and at others a violent turbulence. At their best, these photographs seek to capture authentic and natural moments in time.
